Hello Alumni,
On Saturday, Feb 10th, Fr. Maduri held a fundraiser for the OLG Youth Group. The evening consisted of a delicious buffet catered by Basset's of Brooklyn and an entertaining troupe of actors who preformed a murder mystery. It was my pleasure to have a co-worker join me for the event. I was happy as my friend was enjoying herself, but what really made me feel good was the many times she remarked about the closeness of our community. She was amazed by the fact that so many people knew each other from their grammar shcool years, and that everyone was so friendly. It was noticable how people from different tables did so much intermingeling amongst each other. It made me feel lucky to have grown up in such a community. It's moments like these that make my Alumni project seem important, not only for those who live close, but more especially for those who don't.
By the way - there were 3 prize winners that night, Maybe you're familiar with them;
Breeda Connolly, Who attended OLG School, was a teacher there for many years (One of the Favorites!), and who now teaches at Fontbonne Academy!
Jerry Antonino, a man dedicated to parish and community, who organized and oversees our local soccer program, who is involved in the children's youth group and who along with his wife Jeanie, conducts our parish "La Familia" classes!
And last but not least, Marie Hornung, also a graduate of OLG, who is involved in parish activities, is an extracommunical minister, belongs to the choir, and preformed a great "JIG" on her way up to collect her prize!
